Bob Haygood and Redbird Thomas both had firsthand experience with the devastating effects of cardiovascular disease; they each underwent bypass surgery twice.  They also shared something else in common.  Bob and Redbird were avid golfers.  Their love of the game, and their personal experience with heart disease, along with a strong desire to make a difference for our local Heart Society, led them to start the Open Heart Open Golf Tournament in 1990.  The tournament is held in the fall each year and is a very important source of income for the Heart Society.
