2015 Heart Walk
On May 13th CaroMont Health sponsored the 12th Annual Heart Walk on the campus of CaroMont Regional Medical Center. Hundreds of people came out to raise $14,500 to support the Heart Society’s programs.
Over 40 teams, led by David Selby who served as the Chairperson, did an outstanding job of creating excitement and raising money to support the Heart Society’s programs. Teams secured sponsors to support their participation and held creative special fundraisers as well. For example, CaroMont Heart Suite 200 held their annual King of Hearts Contest with staff and patients paying to vote for their favorite cardiologist. Dr. Tamberella was crowned King of Hearts. Their team raised the most donations totaling $3,017! The Environmental Services Department sold tickets for the opportunity to throw a pie at one of the CaroMont managers, and held hot dog, popcorn and lemonade sales, and a bake sale. Their efforts raised $2,564! Junior Heart Board members at Piedmont Community Charter School sponsored 2 Jean Days, with students donating $2 to be able to wear jeans to school. This team of teens raised almost $1,300.
Mended Hearts Team focused their fundraising efforts in memory of Gary Mims, and their team led the Walk. The list goes on and on with one common theme- supporting the Heart Society and helping people in our community.
The Heart Society is honored to receive such support and will use 100% of the proceeds from the Heart Walk to support Medication Assistance, Cholesterol and Blood Pressure Screenings, and Cardiovascular Health Education.
