2015 Art for Heart Awards
The Heart Society started the “Art for Heart” program in 1963. The objective of this program is to develop greater understanding on the part of the students, their parents and teachers, concerning good health habits relating to the cardiovascular system. The contest begins in January with the distribution of a brochure about heart health for each student in the 4th and 5th grades. Videos about the heart are available for the teachers to show to their classes, and a Heart Society staff member will provide a classroom presentation about the heart at the teacher’s request.
Students are asked to draw posters to depict what they have learned from the program. A contest is held in each school. The 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners for each grade are brought to the Heart Society office to be entered in a countywide contest. Congratulations to the following county-wide 2015 Art for Heart Winners!
